Student protest march in Pristina against Special Court verdict

Members of the Student Parliament of the University of Pristina “Hasan Prishtina” have taken part in a protest march opposing the verdict issued by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

The protest began at the Student Center in Pristina, while participants are expected to march to Skanderbeg Square.

According to the organizers, the purpose of the activity is to express solidarity with the former KLA leaders and seek support until the judicial process is concluded.

The students have announced that they will also present a six-point memorandum during the activity. It includes demands for financial, political and moral support, as well as international monitoring of the judicial process.

The march comes after five nights of protests held in Pristina against the verdict. In recent days, protests have also been organized by groups representing those affected by the war, while rallies in support of the former KLA leaders have been held in the diaspora.
