Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Russian E-Commerce Giant Wildberries’ Warehouse Near St. Petersburg

A Wildberries warehouse, considered the leader of e-commerce in Russia, was hit overnight by Ukrainian drones near St. Petersburg. The explosions caused massive fires and injured three people, while as a safety measure, flights at Pulkovo International Airport were temporarily suspended.

Russian officials reported that air defenses neutralized 571 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over a dozen regions, including Crimea. In the city of St. Petersburg, a huge plume of smoke rose into the sky after the strike on the company’s warehouse, which is often compared to “Russia’s Amazon.” This is the third time within a week that Wildberries’ infrastructure has been targeted by air attacks.

An equally devastating incident occurred last weekend, where eight workers lost their lives after another logistics center of the company was engulfed in flames as a result of a drone attack in the Moscow area.

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has stated that these warehouses serve as distribution centers for sanctioned components essential for the production of drones and navigation systems. He described this offensive as “long-range sanctions,” aimed at striking the supply chains that feed the Russian military machine.

In this context, both sides have significantly increased the frequency of long-range strikes. Russia continues to launch ballistic missiles at civilian targets in Ukraine, as U.S. President Donald Trump has described Ukrainian incursions into Russian soil as “an escalation that could mean the near end” of the conflict.
