Tragedy in Rome: 16-year-old fatally wounds his mother and reports the crime to police

A tragedy has occurred in Rome, where a 16-year-old boy is suspected of attacking his 50-year-old mother. The woman was taken to hospital but did not survive her injuries.

The incident occurred in Centocelle, an area in the eastern outskirts of the Italian capital. The mother and son had lived in the apartment where the attack took place for around three years. According to reports by Italian media, neighbors had not previously noticed any particular conflicts between them, while on the afternoon of the incident they heard no noises, screams or calls for help.

After the incident, the teenager is suspected of calling the emergency number 112 himself. During the conversation with authorities, he stated that he had struck his mother.

Police found the 16-year-old outside the building, sitting down with bloodstained clothing. His mother was inside the apartment on the first floor. She was still alive, but in very serious condition.

The woman was rushed to the Tor Vergata Polyclinic. However, several hours later she died after her injuries proved fatal.

Following the incident, the 16-year-old was admitted to the psychiatric ward of the Umberto I Polyclinic in Rome. Preliminary investigations indicate that he had exhibited problems earlier as well.
