Toshkovski: “Safe City” will soon fine drivers with foreign plates across Macedonia as well

At the Tabanoc Border Crossing, where he and his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic promoted the “Drive Safely” campaign, Interior Minister Pançe Toshkovski announced that the “Safe City” system will also include foreign drivers passing through North Macedonia in transit. According to him, the goal is to ensure compliance with traffic rules and save human lives.

He called on all travelers moving along Corridors 8 and 10 in Macedonia to be cautious, stressing that the “Safe City” cameras are active, operational, and recording traffic violations.

Toshkovski stressed that, alongside the country’s citizens, people transiting through the country will very soon also be penalized for failing to comply with traffic rules. For this reason, he appealed to all those traveling to obey the rules, underlining that every life saved is a great gesture.

The minister called for responsibility from all drivers passing along Corridors 8 and 10 because, as he said, the “Safe City” system is already in operation and will apply to everyone, regardless of whether the vehicle has Macedonian or foreign license plates.

Toshkovski said that the full implementation of the second phase, which is linked to issuing fines to drivers of vehicles with foreign registration, will be seen very soon, and that this will happen precisely at this border crossing. He called on citizens driving vehicles with foreign plates to be informed that violations are being recorded and that fines will be delivered as soon as possible to those who do not comply with the rules.
