Thousands of citizens demand the prime minister’s resignation, British MP “slaps” Rama: Young Albanians want to leave the country, I will not take lessons on sovereignty from you

At a time when citizens have been demanding Prime Minister Rama’s removal for a month, the latter has received a “blow” from British MP Andrew Rosindell.

Referring to a statement made several months ago by the prime minister, in which he declared that, “Britain left Europe because it wanted fewer boats and it has more boats. It left Europe because it wanted more investment. It has less investment,” Rosindell wrote today that Rama is free to comment on Great Britain, but that he too has the right to express his opinion on Albania.

In a post on the X platform, Rosindell wrote that during his visit to Tirana last year he spoke with many young Albanians who, according to him, told him they wanted to leave the country.

In the end, the British MP said that he does not take lessons on sovereignty from a foreign prime minister.

“Prime Minister Rama is free to comment on Britain, just as I am free to comment on Albania. Last year I spoke with many young Albanians in Tirana, who told me they wanted to leave the country, something that will become even more possible with Albania’s entry into Schengen. In 2022, Albanian nationals were the largest group to arrive illegally by small boats in the United Kingdom. The real question is why so many young Albanians felt they had to leave their country in the first place. I will take lessons on sovereignty from the British people, not from a foreign prime minister. Brexit was about democratic self-government, and that principle remains just as important today as ever before,” the British MP wrote.
