Those accused of the armed robbery in Suharekë appear before the Basic Court in Prizren

Those accused of the armed robbery of a jewelry store in Suharekë on November 22, 2023, were brought before the Basic Court in Prizren on Thursday. A hearing in the case is expected to be held at the court.

The indictment charges Bujar Basha, Besart Istrefi, Leotrim Cakolli and Korab Gashi with the robbery, during which gold jewelry worth more than 133,000 euros was allegedly stolen. According to the same document, two police officers were also injured during the incident.

Fatmir Tahiri and Albin Beqiri are also accused of offenses related to the case. They are suspected of assisting in the commission of the crime. Meanwhile, Trim Baraku is charged with illegal possession of a weapon and with buying or concealing items obtained through criminal activity. According to case records, Baraku has pleaded guilty.

After several months on the run, Korab Gashi was arrested in Prishtina in July 2024. During the police operation that followed the robbery, Dukagjin Gashi, who according to the records is Korab Gashi’s brother, was killed in an exchange of gunfire with members of the Kosovo Police.

The case is being heard at the Basic Court in Prizren.
