The stories I deal with are very different from one another, even though the essence is the same, but they each have their own different elements. Strange cases are affairs within the family itself, meaning a sister-in-law involved with a brother-in-law, or cases involving blood relatives. These are cases that affect me deeply, and it is very difficult for me to work on them. I had one case, not very recently, in which a father-in-law was involved with his son’s wife. The son was outside Albania, working abroad. The person who called me about it was the mother-in-law.

Yes. When she told me the story, I was saying to myself, “Is this woman okay?” I had doubts in the sense that maybe she was not psychologically well.

It is an extreme case. The son was in a country where he did not have documents and had not come to Albania for many years. He had gotten married, had a child with his wife, and then left. For many years he did not return, only communicating with his wife by phone. She lived with his parents. This case is from the remote areas of Albania, not Tirana or the big cities. When the daughter-in-law’s mother-in-law, whom we had as the subject, described it, I doubted her because it was unbelievable to me. For me, it is a huge taboo, it is extreme, the end of the world.

How old were the father-in-law and the daughter-in-law?

The father-in-law was nearly 70 years old and the daughter-in-law was 28-29 at the time. The way the woman in question relayed it to me, she told me, “I am aware of it and I have told my husband as well.” She said that her husband had said, “It is better inside the house than outside the house.”

She wanted to prove it to her son. As far as her husband was concerned, things were settled because he had accepted it. She wanted cooperation from her son so they could separate him from the wife. Because it is very serious to tell your son something like that only with words.

What happened with this story?

I said that it is very difficult to uncover such cases because they happen within the family. What happens, happens inside. The only thing I did to help her achieve what she wanted, to relay it to her son, was provide her with a hidden device that we use. She documented it herself; she simply bought it. The investigation part did not work in that kind of relationship. It was impossible because they would not go outside somewhere, especially in the area where they lived. Even if they had gone out, they were still within the family, so what would you prove? That she had gone out with the father-in-law or the daughter-in-law, that they had gone somewhere. It was extremely difficult, and I understood that in advance and told her, “This case cannot be followed in outside environments, it has to be inside the home.” The woman in question was very smart, quite prepared, and very cooperative. She carried it out herself, of course with the help of the device I sold her. When I spoke with her later, she told me, “I did it.” Her phone call was a very happy one because she said she was acting in cooperation with her son. The son supported his mother greatly after that. She had told him about it in general terms, but it was unacceptable.

Until recently I had contact with the woman in question, and he is in divorce proceedings. He is fighting to get custody of his daughter. There is a problem because he has no documents and it is difficult to bring her to where he lives. This is the most extreme case for me.
