Thaçi case and others: closing statements on charges of obstructing the administration of justice to be heard on September 10, 11 and 14

The Special Court will hear closing statements in the case against Hashim Thaçi and the others, which concerns charges related to the administration of justice.

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers announced that the Single Judge has scheduled the closing statements in the case “Specialist Prosecutor v. Hashim Thaçi, Bashkim Smakaj, Isni Kilaj, Fadil Fazliu and Hajredin Kuçi” for September 10, 11 and 14, 2026. The hearings will begin at 09:30.

The delivery of these closing statements will conclude the parties’ presentation of arguments in these judicial proceedings. After that, the Single Judge will issue a decision in the case.

Documents from the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office indicate that the criminal offenses included in the indictment are related to the official proceedings of the Specialist Chambers, including investigations conducted by the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the indictment, at least during the period from April 12, 2023, to November 2, 2023, Thaçi disclosed confidential information that had been revealed to him during his trial. The prosecution also alleges that he, together with Fadil Fazliu, Bashkim Smakaj, Isni Kilaj and Hajredin Kuçi, coordinated to unlawfully influence the testimony of witnesses of the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in the Thaçi and others case.
