Tehran Warns Sofia: Cooperation with the US Against Iran Will Be Considered Aggression

Tehran has warned Bulgaria, declaring that any involvement in a possible US attack on Iran would be treated as an act of aggression.

According to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, Sofia must not allow Bulgarian territory or infrastructure to be used by the United States for operations against Iran. “If Bulgaria cooperates with the United States in an attack on Iran, this constitutes an act of aggression, and Iran has the right to strike the source of any attack,” Baghaei said, according to Iranian media.

The spokesperson added that Tehran would show “no leniency whatsoever” toward countries it considers aggressors. He stressed: “In accordance with international law, striking the point of departure and the source of any act of aggression is Iran’s legitimate right.”

Baghaei said that other states had no reason to feel threatened by Iran as long as they did not make their territory and infrastructure available to the United States.

Meanwhile, the Iranian official denied claims that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and that several million barrels of oil pass through it every day. According to him, these reports are part of the “communications and propaganda war.”

Baghaei also rejected reports that Iran had been invited to join the Mecca Defense Agreement. At the same time, Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyed Badr Al-Busaidi is expected to travel to Tehran, where he will meet with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.

The meeting is expected to focus on bilateral relations and developments in the region, with particular attention to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
