Iran warns the US: Agreement in crisis, ‘we will not hesitate to defend ourselves’

Esmail Baghaei, the spokesman for Iranian diplomacy, has stated that the agreement between Tehran and Washington is experiencing a deep crisis, while stressing that Iran is ready to take self-defense actions without any hesitation.

Iranian state media reported that Baghaei clarified that the targets of Iranian attacks are exclusively the installations and bases that the US uses to strike Iranian soil.

He forcefully emphasized that Iran will not accept the United States passing through the Strait of Hormuz with the intent of violating its sovereignty and national security, adding: “We will not hesitate to defend ourselves.”

Regarding the talks held on Saturday, spokesman Baghaei said that they focused entirely on the Strait of Hormuz issue, with the aim of ensuring unimpeded navigation of ships. According to him, the United States has hindered these efforts by exerting pressure on Oman.

Furthermore, the Iranian diplomat warned that Tehran will not fulfill its obligations under the 14-point memorandum of understanding, signed on June 17, if the American side does not respect its commitments.

Meanwhile, data from ship tracking systems show that since last night, no vessel has passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
