SSO: Number of violent deaths has increased in Macedonia

According to data from the State Statistical Office, cases of violent deaths in 2025 increased by 6.8 percent compared to the previous year. A total of 546 people were recorded, of whom 374 were men and 172 were women.

As the State Statistical Office announced, the largest share of the total number of violent deaths consists of accidental cases, accounting for 82.2%, or 449 people. They are followed by suicides at 14.8%, or 81 people, and homicides at 2.9%, or 16 people.

As for the category of homicides, 16 people were registered, of whom 9 were men and 7 were women. The largest share consists of cases in which death occurred as a result of an attempted infliction of bodily injury with gunshots from firearms or other unspecified weapons, at 1.5% of the total number of violent death cases./Alsat/
