Shocking plan in India: Wife drugged husband and left him to be killed by a venomous snake

India has been shaken by an unusual crime, where authorities have uncovered that a 32-year-old woman orchestrated her husband’s murder using a deadly venomous snake, aiming to present the event as an accident.

The victim was Atul Kumar Panwar, also 32, who owned a private nursery in the Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh state. His lifeless body was found on Friday morning inside the residence where he lived with his wife and their 6-year-old son.

Police suspect his wife hatched the plot together with the school bus driver, with whom investigators believe she was having an extramarital affair.

According to the reconstruction of the investigation, the 32-year-old was initially served milk laced with sleeping pills. Once he fell into a deep sleep, the suspected perpetrators brought a krait snake – one of the most venomous species in Asia – to bite him while he slept. The plan was for the death to appear as the result of a fatal, accidental bite.

At dawn, the wife alerted neighbors that her husband had died from a snake bite. The reptile was found right on the bed, near the corpse, and was killed by local residents. Bite marks were seen on Panwar’s hand and leg, which initially led to the case being treated as an accidental tragedy.

The investigation changed course after the deceased’s father approached the police, expressing suspicions that his daughter-in-law was behind his son’s death.

Probing deeper, authorities discovered that the bus driver had only been working at the family’s school for three months and was suspected of having started a secret relationship with the victim’s wife.

In conclusion, police arrested four people: the victim’s wife, her alleged lover, as well as two individuals specialized in capturing and handling snakes. The latter are accused of providing the venomous reptile and using it to carry out the macabre plan.

The couple had married in 2019 and only three months earlier had opened the childcare center where the bus driver was also employed.

According to the local police chief, the evidence gathered so far proves that this is a premeditated murder, meticulously organized to be disguised as an accidental death caused by a snake.
