Scorching Heat and Severe Storms Put US Independence 250th Anniversary Celebrations at Risk

Extreme weather conditions are creating serious difficulties for the activities marking the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States.

After very high temperatures during the day, authorities have also warned of the risk of severe storms, which could affect the main events scheduled for the evening.

In Washington, the temperature has reached nearly 38 degrees Celsius, while the heat index has risen to 40 degrees, forcing organizers to take measures to protect the public.

The situation has worsened further after the National Weather Service issued a warning for severe storms accompanied by frequent lightning. This warning will remain in effect until 10:00 p.m. local time.

Although the weather appears unstable, President Donald Trump is expected to deliver his speech at the anniversary ceremony during the evening. Afterward, the traditional fireworks display is also scheduled, though it may be affected by the weather conditions.

At the same time, several cities around the area of the American capital have decided to change their celebration programs.

In Annapolis, the Independence Day parade and the planned concert have been canceled, while authorities said the fireworks display will be held only if the weather allows, without ruling out the possibility of a postponement.
