Sarandë Police Officer Responds After Being Assaulted by Several People: It Was a Momentary Conflict, They Insulted Me While I Was Riding a Motorcycle

A State Police officer was involved in a physical altercation overnight in Sarandë. The incident occurred at around 00:15 in the city’s No. 3 neighbourhood, involving Mihal Velço, a crime officer at the Sarandë Police Station.

He declined to make a public statement, but in a conversation with Top Channel correspondent Entjola Budo, he said he was riding a motorcycle when he heard a group of unknown individuals swear at and insult him. He said he got off the motorcycle and became involved in a physical fight with them, stressing that he did not know any of the individuals and that the incident occurred late at night. According to him, the remaining circumstances are a matter for the investigation. He added that footage from security cameras in the area has been seized and that he did not suffer serious injuries, as the conflict was momentary and, after a brief altercation, all those involved left.

After the incident was reported, numerous police forces conducted checks in various areas of Sarandë until the early morning hours. Homes, bars and public spaces were searched, while several individuals were taken in and questioned.

Investigators have also seized security camera footage in an effort to identify those involved in the altercation, while work to fully clarify the incident continues.
