NAME/ Police officer assaulted in Sarandë after clashing with a group while riding a motorcycle

Last night, Mihal Velço, a crime officer at the Sarandë Police Commissariat, was assaulted in neighbourhood No. 3 of Sarandë.

Velço was riding a motorcycle when a group of people first insulted him and then threatened him. The officer got off the motorcycle, and a physical confrontation broke out between him and those involved.

The causes and circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified. Preliminary information indicates that it may have been a spontaneous clash rather than an organised attack.

After being notified, large police forces carried out checks across the city of Sarandë, while the operation continued until the early morning hours.

Homes, establishments and public spaces were searched, while several people were escorted in and questioned.

So far, there is no information on the apprehension of the suspected perpetrators. Work to clarify the case is ongoing.
