Salianji demands Rama’s resignation: The government doesn’t control the territory, but attacks protesters’ Instagram

Former MP Ervin Salianji has reacted in harsh tones regarding the security situation in Albania and the recent digital attacks on protesters’ social media accounts.

In his statement, Salianji claims that the government has left the territory in the hands of organized crime, while focusing its energy on censoring opposition voices.

According to the former MP, the country today is without state authority and appears to have no master. He states that, from south to north, conflicts are being resolved through firearms and according to the “law of the strongest.”

Salianji says that the executive has used criminal groups in electoral mechanisms, giving them power and privileges. According to him, the situation has now spiraled out of control and the gangs have begun to challenge the state institutions themselves.

He declares that, while Albania is facing violence, weapons and insecurity, the government’s priority is shutting down protesters’ Instagram accounts and cracking down on voices against it. The former MP accuses the executive of failing to guarantee security, failing to fight crime and failing to exercise control over the territory, while focusing on political opponents instead.

At the end of his reaction, Salianji assesses that the agony of governance is now evident and that the prime minister no longer has the moral and institutional authority to lead the country. He closes the statement with the call: “Rama, resign!”.
