Salianji Reacts to the Incident in Pustec: Disrespecting the Albanian National Anthem Is Unacceptable

Former MP Ervin Salianji has strongly condemned an incident in Pustec during the official visit of the prime minister of North Macedonia, when the Albanian National Anthem was not played at the event.

He described the incident as “unacceptable, offensive and scandalous,” stressing that Pustec is home to every Albanian citizen, regardless of ethnicity. According to Salianji, the Albanian state has a duty to guarantee the rights of minorities, but at the same time, every citizen and local institution must respect the national symbols and institutions of the Republic without exception.

The former MP emphasized that failing to play the Albanian National Anthem at an official ceremony held within the territory of the Republic of Albania is a violation that cannot be forgiven.

Concluding his statement, Salianji said that the rights of national minorities cannot be used as an excuse for a lack of respect toward the state. He added that national symbols must not be trampled on under any circumstances.
