Rrogozhina Opposes Territorial Reform: Don’t Erase Us from the Map, Citizens’ Voices Must Be Heard!

Today, the final public hearing was held in Rrogozhina as part of the consultation on the Administrative-Territorial Reform. Citizens and local representatives voiced their opposition to the proposal affecting the administrative future of the Municipality of Rrogozhina.

The position expressed during the hearing was clear: Rrogozhina must continue to remain a municipality in its own right, while any possible territorial change must take into account the will of the citizens and the community’s concrete needs.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Rrogozhina, Andi Proshka, argued that the municipality has the necessary capacities to continue operating as a local government unit and opposed the proposal for Administrative-Territorial Reform 2.0.

In his address, Proshka called for the public consultation not to remain a formal procedure, but for citizens’ concerns and demands to be heard and genuinely taken into consideration before any decision is made.

“Citizens’ voices must be part of decision-making,” was essentially the message conveyed during the hearing, where it was requested that Rrogozhina’s administrative future be determined on the basis of concrete arguments and not solely according to an administrative scheme.

This was the concluding hearing of the public consultation in the territory of the Municipality of Rrogozhina. In the hearings held earlier in the administrative units, communities had also voiced their opposition to the proposal to change the municipality’s status and territorial organization.

Local representatives and citizens are calling for any decision on Rrogozhina’s future to be based on the municipality’s actual capacities, the community’s needs, and the will of its residents.

At the conclusion of the hearing, the community’s message was clear: Rrogozhina wants to be heard and to have the right to decide its own administrative future.
