Appeal from Rrogozhina: Residents Oppose Merger with Kavaja, Demand Preservation of Their Municipality

Residents of Rrogozhina gathered today in the City Park to protest a proposal to revise the territorial map, which foresees merging their municipality with that of Kavaja.

Holding banners and chanting “Rrogozhina is ours,” the participants openly voiced their opposition to the project, insisting that their administrative unit preserve its independence and distinct identity.

During the rally, they called on government officials to visit Rrogozhina in person and hear the community’s concerns directly. According to the protesters, Kavaja Municipality is facing numerous challenges and would not be able to handle Rrogozhina’s demands at the same time.

Calling for the withdrawal of the draft law on the new territorial division, the citizens stressed that Rrogozhina must continue to exist as a separate municipality, with its own representative and administrative bodies. They also warned that they would intensify their response if the authorities failed to take their demands into account.
