Resigns as Health Minister, Evis Sala responds: I have accepted several important international commitments! This year we have made important strides

Evis Sala has revealed the reasons behind her resignation as Minister of Health and Social Welfare. In a statement on social media, following the public announcement that she had resigned, Sala said she had accepted several international commitments related to her field of expertise.

“Today was my last meeting as a member of the government cabinet, as I have accepted several important international commitments in my areas of expertise: oncology – artificial intelligence – innovation,” she wrote.

Expressing her gratitude to Prime Minister Edi Rama and the healthcare workers, Sala said that during her one year in office as minister, they had made important strides in healthcare, many of which, she said, are visible today, while others have only just begun.

“This year we have made important strides in healthcare. Many of them are visible today, while others have only just begun. My commitment to Albania is not tied to a position. It is part of who I am and will continue through my knowledge, experience and international professional network,” she added.

Today was my last meeting as a member of the government cabinet, as I have accepted several important international commitments in my areas of expertise: oncology – artificial intelligence – innovation.

A year ago, I took on the position of Minister of Health and Social Welfare with a great sense of responsibility, in a field full of challenges and difficulties.

I am grateful to Prime Minister Edi Rama for his trust and support, as well as to every doctor, nurse, professional and employee in the healthcare and social welfare system who worked every day to make the system better.

Special thanks to every Albanian citizen who wrote to me, offered suggestions or asked more of us.

This year we have made important strides in healthcare. Many of them are visible today, while others have only just begun.

My commitment to Albania is not tied to a position. It is part of who I am and will continue through my knowledge, experience and international professional network.

Because positions have a beginning and an end.
