Prosecution requests 30 days of pretrial detention for 81-year-old suspected of killing his wife in Prizren

The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren, through its Serious Crimes Department, has asked the Basic Court in Prizren to impose 30 days of pretrial detention on the suspect, B.D. He has been held for 48 hours on reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of “Aggravated Murder,” under Article 173, paragraph 1, subparagraph 1.3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CCRK).

According to the prosecution’s request, the incident occurred on 26.08.2026, at around 00:05, in the suspect’s family home in Prizren. Following a verbal dispute with his wife, the victim identified by the initials L.D., B.D. allegedly physically attacked her, slamming and striking her head against the ground several times.

As a result of multiple injuries to her head and other parts of her body, L.D. died at the scene.

The prosecution also alleges that after the incident, B.D. attempted to remove traces of what had happened and later informed family members about the incident.

“The Basic Prosecution Office in Prizren remains committed to combating crime, strengthening the rule of law and ensuring that every person suspected of committing criminal offenses is held accountable before the justice authorities,” the institution said in a statement.
