Netanyahu confident: With or without a deal, Iran will not have nuclear weapons

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with Fox News, said that he shares the same goals as US President Donald Trump in preventing Iran’s nuclear program.

“Trump and I share the same goals on Iran. Whether there is a deal or not, Tehran will not obtain nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu added that Trump believes that after the strikes Israel and the United States have carried out against Iran, there is room for diplomatic pressure.

“We respect that and I hope it succeeds. But I can tell you this: with or without a deal, as long as I am prime minister, Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons,” he said.

He added that “the negotiations are not complete” and that he will assess them only when there is a final result. Netanyahu also described his relationship with Trump as one of friendship and alliance.

“We want to see Iran abandon its nuclear weapons program. We want the enriched nuclear material to be removed. We want the nuclear enrichment facilities to be dismantled. We have other shared goals. Believe me, when I have things I want to emphasize, I freely express my opinion. And when he has something to tell me, he does the same. That is what friends and allies do for one another,” Netanyahu said.
