NAMES/ Another Call Center fraud case struck, 4 people arrested, 61 employees under investigation

The Economic and Cyber Crime Directorate at the General Directorate of State Police has struck another case of fraud carried out through Call Center schemes.

According to police information, the operation was conducted against a Call Center in Shkodër.

During the operation, 4 people, organizers and managers of this activity, were arrested, while 61 employees were criminally investigated.

The administrator, Fabian Popaj, 37, was arrested, along with three others: Lisenko Muçaj, 43; Basri Nikshiqi, 41; and Nikolin Biba, 42.

According to police, these individuals are suspected of organizing the criminal activity of computer fraud at this business and directing groups of employees. During the operation, 61 citizens were caught red-handed on the premises while carrying out the activity, and proceedings were launched against them while they remain free.

“During the search of the premises, 152 electronic devices (computers, laptops and other devices used to carry out the activity), an amount of money, as well as other materials of interest to the investigation, were found and seized as material evidence,” police said.

A call center in the “Vasil Shanto” neighborhood, where computer fraud is suspected to have been carried out, was uncovered.

Criminal proceedings were launched against 61 employees, who were caught in flagrante during the Police intervention at the call center.

152 electronic devices, through which the fraud is suspected to have been carried out, as well as other materials of interest to the investigation, were seized.

Specialists from the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes at the Shkodër Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with specialists from the Sector for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes at the Directorate for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes at the General Directorate of State Police, as a result of investigations carried out through proactive methods, as part of criminal proceedings, under the direction of the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Shkodër, organized and finalized the coded operation “Netëork.”

As a result of the operation, the following citizens were arrested in flagrante:

-F. P., 37, resident of the village of Bajzë, administrator of the business;

-L. M., 43, B. N., 41, and N. B., 42, all three residents of Shkodër.

Investigative actions suggest that these citizens organized the criminal activity of computer fraud at this business and directed groups of employees.

During the operation, 61 citizens were caught in flagrante on the premises while carrying out the activity, and proceedings were launched against them while they remain free.

During the search of the premises, 152 electronic devices (computers, laptops and other devices used to carry out the activity), an amount of money, as well as other materials of interest to the investigation, were found and seized as material evidence.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Shkodër for further action.
