Giulia died in the early hours of October 5 after becoming unwell at the home she shared with her partner, Leonardo Zaia, in Viareggio’s Terminetto neighborhood. The 24-year-old had difficulty breathing, and her condition deteriorated within moments.
Her partner immediately contacted the emergency services. An ambulance and a Croce Verde ambulance arrived at the home, but the young woman had suffered cardiac arrest. Doctors immediately began resuscitation efforts, and she was rushed to Noa Hospital in Massa.
Despite the doctors’ efforts, Giulia could not be saved.
Four years ago, the accident that changed her life
Giulia’s life changed four years ago after a serious accident on the ski slopes in Abetone. While skiing, she collided with a pole and suffered multiple injuries before being taken in serious condition to Cisanello Hospital in Pisa.
“From that day on, things changed for her,” her sister Aurora says, explaining that Giulia’s health had experienced ups and downs since the accident.
Because of the accident’s consequences, Giulia had given up skiing, one of her passions, and had also stopped working at the family paint company.
A much-loved girl with many plans
Giulia worked in the family business in Viareggio. Her family described her as a loving, cheerful and generous girl who was deeply attached to those close to her.
She loved Viareggio, the sea, the mountains and the Carnival. She enjoyed reading, learning, cooking and fashion. She also had plans for the future, particularly in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Her parents, Diana Kadushja and Kostandin Stefa, are originally from Durrës. Giulia was especially close to her older sister, Aurora.
“We still had so many things to experience together”
Aurora published a touching tribute to her sister, recalling her character and the strong bond they shared.
“You were my little sister, the darling of the house, the one who loved surprises, always able to think of others before yourself,” she wrote.
Aurora said that Giulia was the person she had grown up with and that the two of them still had many plans for the future.
Among them was Aurora’s wedding, which Giulia could not wait to organize and enjoy together with her sister. She was also eagerly looking forward to becoming an aunt.
“To me, you were not only a sister. You were my partner, the person I grew up with, a part of my life and of everything I am. We still had so many things to experience together,” Aurora wrote.
Finally, she addressed her sister with the words: “I will miss you every day of my life. I love you, my little sister. Forever, the two of us.”
The farewell ceremony
The farewell ceremony for Giulia Stefa will take place on October 7 at Santa Rita Church in Campo d’Aviazione, Viareggio.
After the ceremony, the 24-year-old will be taken to the Viareggio cemetery, where she will be buried.
