Mickoski: North Macedonia currently has the cheapest fuel in the region

North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, stated that the country currently has the lowest prices for petroleum products in the region.

During today’s parliamentary question session, Mickoski said the difference is significant in the way the country handled the crisis compared with many neighboring countries. According to him, although it was the biggest crisis in history, with severe consequences and results, the last three and a half months passed, as he put it, quite easily, because at no point was there panic, there was no despair, and no press conferences were held in an atmosphere of panic; instead, work was done so that citizens would not feel the consequences.

He stressed that the result of this approach is that the country had significantly lower prices both during the crisis and now. According to Mickoski, if current prices are compared, North Macedonia clearly has the lowest fuel prices.

The prime minister also presented a comparison of diesel and gasoline prices in the countries of the region, underlining that today North Macedonia has the lowest price for both diesel and gasoline.

“In Serbia, if you fill up one liter of fuel today, the price is 1.85 euros per liter, while if you fill up with 95-octane gasoline, then it is 1.63 euros per liter. If you go to Croatia, there, depending on whether you fill up in cities or on the highway, the price of diesel today ranges from 1.59 euros to 1.85 euros per liter, while for gasoline the price ranges from 1.57 to 1.73 per liter. In Slovenia, you can buy diesel for 1.72, while unleaded is 1.60. If you continue further and arrive in BiH, there you will buy diesel for 1.50 euros, while unleaded gasoline is 1.46. In Montenegro, you buy diesel for 1.55 euros, while unleaded gasoline is 1.59 euros. And then in Macedonia, you will buy diesel for 1.31, while unleaded will cost 1.36. The difference is from 20 to 50 cents between the fuel our citizens buy and the fuel bought by citizens in these countries,” Mickoski emphasized.

Asked whether there would be additional measures, Mickoski replied that none are currently planned, since prices are falling./Telegrafi/
