Mickoski rules out early elections and the possibility of a political crisis

The parliamentary blockade announced by the DUI does not pose a risk of political crisis, according to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. He assessed that the DUI’s obstruction of the adoption in Parliament of laws requiring the Badinter majority cannot lead the country toward early parliamentary elections.

The head of government stated that the parliamentary majority is stable and that he sees no elements that would indicate the existence of a crisis.

“No. I don’t see a crisis. We have a stable majority. I don’t think this represents any crisis,” Mickoski said, adding: “I will remind you that the Speaker of Parliament was elected on the steps.”

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Afrim Gashi, said on Monday that all laws will be put to a vote, including those requiring the Badinter majority, despite announcements that the blockade will continue.

Gashi accused the opposition of misusing the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure with this action. Referring to the possibility that the blockade could end with early parliamentary elections, he stressed that such a process can only take place if 61 MPs vote to dissolve Parliament.
