Mickoski in Washington: Strengthening the strategic and economic partnership with the US

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who is leading a government delegation on a working visit to the US, held several important meetings in Washington today with representatives of US institutions, Congress and the business sector. The talks focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries and creating new opportunities for investment and economic cooperation.

As part of the visit, Mickoski met with Caroline Vic, Chief Policy Officer and Acting Chief Development Officer at the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). With an investment capacity of $205 billion, the institution is one of the United States’ main instruments for mobilizing private capital and promoting investment in strategic sectors.

The meeting explored ways to expand cooperation, as well as investment opportunities in Macedonia, particularly in energy, high technology and other strategic areas. The DFC places particular emphasis on energy, modern infrastructure and advanced technologies, while the expansion of its mandate has given it significantly greater capacity for international investment.

The visit to Washington also included a series of political meetings with representatives of the US Congress. Mickoski held talks with Congressman Keith Self, who chairs the Subcommittee on Europe within the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The meeting addressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Macedonia and the United States of America, the interests shared by the two countries and opportunities to further advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The prime minister also met with Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Macedonia in the US Congress.

The talks with Tenney highlighted the traditionally strong and friendly relations between Macedonia and the United States of America. The role of parliamentary cooperation, political dialogue and the exchange of experience between the two countries was also emphasized.

The meetings held in Washington are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership with the US and translate it into tangible economic cooperation, new investment and projects of importance to the country.

During his visit to the US, Prime Minister Mickoski will also attend this year’s United Nations General Assembly in New York. Meetings with a large number of national leaders are planned on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
