Meloni surpasses Berlusconi, her government becomes the longest-serving in Italy’s history: Stability is not measured by records

The executive led by Giorgia Meloni has entered the annals of the Italian Republic, becoming the longest-serving cabinet since its foundation.

With 1,413 days in power, the current administration has surpassed the previous record, held by Silvio Berlusconi’s second government, by just one day.

In a post on social platforms, Meloni reflected on this achievement, emphasizing gratitude and the weight of the commitment to move forward.

“From today, our government holds the title of the longest-serving in the entire history of the Italian Republic. I accept this fact with deep gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility,” she wrote.

The prime minister underlined that the duration of a mandate should not be misinterpreted as a personal trophy.

“Stability is not for boasting, but it is the prerequisite that gives a country the ability to plan, to make decisions, to honor commitments, and to earn respect,” Meloni argued.

After making history in 2022 as the first woman to lead the Italian government, Giorgia Meloni now adds another record: that of the most stable administration of the republic.

Her cabinet took office on October 22, 2022, and has reached exactly 1,413 days leading the country.

The previous standard belonged to Silvio Berlusconi, whose second government remained in power from June 11, 2001, to April 23, 2005, accumulating a total of 1,412 days.

During her response, the Italian leader also praised the work done by her team in the recent period.

“The last few years we have dedicated to increasing employment, lowering unemployment, supporting families and businesses, strengthening security, responsibly managing state finances, and restoring Italy’s influence and credibility on the international stage,” she declared.

“The indicators are visible, but we are fully aware of how much work still awaits us,” Meloni added.

In her message, the prime minister also made a clear allusion to the next electoral cycle, which is expected in the spring of 2027.

“Next year we will once again appear before the citizens with the balance of achievements, with the unresolved challenges, and with our vision for tomorrow. And they will judge again whether we deserve to continue further on this path,” Meloni concluded.
