Meghan Markle Could Return to Acting with a Role in Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen

After several years away from the screen, Meghan Markle may return to acting. The Hollywood Reporter reports that she is in advanced talks to join the cast of the third season of “The Gentlemen,” the Netflix series created by British director Guy Ritchie.

The character Markle may play is reportedly still being written, and the role has not been publicly confirmed. As a result, it remains unclear how many episodes the Duchess of Sussex could appear in. Meanwhile, the series’ second season is expected to premiere on September 3.

According to reports, Markle and Ritchie were introduced through mutual friends. Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s “Today” programme, journalist Bronte Coy said the possibility of Meghan taking the role may have significantly influenced the couple’s decision to return to Britain.

“It is a really big piece of the puzzle,” Coy said. She added that it is a significant role that Meghan is very excited about.

Markle rose to international fame for her portrayal of Rachel Zane in the series “Suits,” in which she was part of the cast for seven seasons. In 2017, during her engagement to Prince Harry, she gave up acting to focus on her responsibilities as a member of the British royal family.

Harry and Meghan married in 2018. They later stepped back from their duties as active members of the royal family, and in 2020 they moved to California.

About six years after stepping away from royal duties, recent reports indicate that the couple is planning to spend more time in the United Kingdom again. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are reportedly enrolled in a British school. The family is expected to live at a private residence outside London.

However, Harry and Meghan are expected to continue maintaining both their home in California and their residence in Portugal. Their increased presence in Britain would not constitute a return to the status of active members of the royal family.
