LSDM: Mickoski announces fuel price hike without presenting measures to protect citizens

LSDM says Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has announced that fuel prices will rise today, but without presenting any concrete steps to protect citizens from the new price shock.

The party says Mickoski himself admits there is a problem, mentioning that there are markets and companies operating with “higher profit margins,” while at the same time stressing that “he will not reveal the names for the moment.” According to LSDM, this reveals two Mickoskis: one who acknowledges the problem and another who, they say, tries to divert attention with lies and manipulation. They add that while citizens are facing a disrupted life and growing poorer by the day, Mickoski is doing nothing.

According to LSDM, for this reason every one of his statements remains within the framework of “he will look into it soon.” They assess that “soon” does not fill citizens’ refrigerators, nor does it pay their bills. The party emphasizes that every increase in fuel prices directly affects rising transport costs, which is then reflected in higher food prices. In the end, according to them, the burden is once again paid by citizens who cannot make it to the end of the month.

LSDM stresses that a family of four needs almost 70,000 denars just to cover basic living expenses. According to them, inflation is eroding purchasing power, while with the budget rebalance and the upward revision of inflation to 4.5%, the Government has admitted that prices will continue to rise. This, according to LSDM, means more expensive food, higher bills, and an even more costly and difficult life, as well as lower-value wages and pensions. They add that this brings less purchasing power and accuse Mickoski of not wanting to hear either about a 600-euro minimum wage or about concrete measures. Likewise, LSDM says he has not accepted any of their proposals, neither for freezing the margins on basic food products nor for support for the most vulnerable categories of citizens.
