LSDM accuses Klekovski of admitting jaundice outbreak in Gostivar, demands criminal liability

The LSDM party has sharply reacted to today’s statement by Health Minister Sasho Klekovski, who claimed that the acute phase of the epidemic in Gostivar is starting to subside and that attention is now focused on early diagnosis of hepatitis A and E. According to LSDM, this admission comes after Klekovski himself had earlier confessed that the warning system was activated late and that the “red lights” were not turned on in time.

According to them, the consequences are severe: the whole of Gostivar was poisoned and more than 4,000 residents were affected by the disease. They accuse that none of the officials from OBRM-PDUKM took measures to protect citizens’ health and no one carried out the necessary inspections. The polluted water, they emphasize, poisoned the city’s residents for 22 consecutive days.

“Now Klekovski admits there are cases of jaundice. This is exactly what Venko Filipče predicted last week – that this would happen and they don’t know how to manage a crisis,” the reaction states. LSDM adds that the minister’s confessions are of no use to the people and that the time has come for him to be held accountable before the law.

They characterize Klekovski as a person without the knowledge and competence to deal with such an emergency. According to LSDM, initially the situation was allowed to deteriorate to this point; then the data was concealed and responsibility shifted for political gain. The result, they warn, will be severe health consequences for the citizens of Gostivar.

“For them, the number of votes always takes priority over people’s lives and well-being. This is an organized criminal group that thinks only of its own tenders, not the people,” concludes LSDM’s reaction.
