Local Producers Protest Alongside PDK: Kurti Must Unblock the Assembly and Institutions

Local producers joined today’s protest by the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, held in front of the Government building. They called for the constitution of the Assembly and the restoration of institutional functioning so that the problems facing farmers, producers and businesses can receive institutional solutions.

Abedin Ramadani, a representative of local producers and an active participant in grain production and the dairy sector, said the political crisis was worsening the situation for producers. According to him, they are already facing high costs, market uncertainty and significant pressure from imported products.

“In addition to the difficulties we have faced so far, we are now also dealing with a political problem that is directly harming us: the Assembly is closed. When the legislative institution does not function and the country remains blocked, our concerns are not addressed. There is no debate on subsidies, the market, the protection of local production or the policies that are essential for our survival,” Ramadani said.

He also criticized statements by representatives of the caretaker Government regarding local producers, warning that such an approach was undermining consumer confidence and affecting the entire production chain.

“When consumers lose confidence in local producers, the consequences are not limited to a single company. Farmers, workers, their families and the entire production chain in the country are affected. We are not asking for favors, but for the state to stand by its own producers and not become an obstacle to them,” he said.

Ramadani called on Albin Kurti to enable the constitution of the Assembly so that lawmakers can gather, discuss and make decisions on the problems affecting citizens and the economy.

“Mr. Kurti, constitute the Assembly and enable lawmakers to enter the chamber to address the real issues facing citizens, farmers, producers and businesses. The situation is extraordinary. If the blockade continues, bankruptcy is becoming a real risk for many local producers,” he said.

According to him, the closure of a farm or a manufacturing business would have consequences that could not later be repaired simply through government decisions.

“A farm that closes cannot be reopened by a government decision; it is lost forever. We want to work, produce and invest in the country, but the state must give us an incentive to continue, not reasons to give up,” Ramadani concluded.

Meanwhile, the PDK Parliamentary Group continued its protest in front of the Government, calling for the immediate constitution of the Assembly and the activation of the institutions. According to them, the institutional blockade is already causing direct consequences for citizens, the economy and local producers.
