Llazov responds to LSDM’s criminal complaint regarding Gostivar: They should first account for their actions

Dr. Kirill Llazarov, director of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate and a specialist in transfusion medicine, has reacted after the criminal complaint of LSDM regarding the situation in Gostivar, where his name was also mentioned.

Llazov has described the complaint as unclear and as another attempt to avoid responsibility through, as he puts it, “political theatre.”

“Instead of using press conferences and criminal complaints to find the guilty, they should first answer for what they did when they headed the institutions. They must clarify what measures they took and what they failed to do about the long-standing water problem in Gostivar,” Llazov states in the reaction published on social media.

He adds that, before accusations are directed at others, the former responsible officials should give explanations about how they handled the water problem in Gostivar and about the use of financial resources.

“Today it’s easy to point the finger at others, while it’s much harder to face your own actions from the time when responsibility and institutions were in your hands,” he says.

Llazov emphasizes that these political actions will not affect his work and that he will continue to act professionally, responsibly and in accordance with the law, only within the competencies of ISHSSH.

“I will continue with my head held high, with a clean conscience and with even greater dedication to my duty,” concludes Llazarov.
