Large fire in Peqin burns olive groves and vegetation in Galush and Gjevurë

Since the early hours of the morning, a large fire has engulfed the villages of Galush and Gjevurë in Peqin, damaging extensive areas of olive groves and vegetation.

The flames have spread across a wide area, while firefighters continue working to contain the hotspots and bring the situation under control.

A helicopter has also joined the firefighting operation, as strong winds are helping the flames spread and making it harder for teams on the ground.

Efforts to contain the hotspots are ongoing, while reports from the scene indicate that large areas in both villages have been affected by the fire.
