Kurti calls for meetings with Gjini and Hamza: Choosing the president is also the opposition’s responsibility

Albin Kurti, the acting prime minister, has expressed openness to political dialogue with other parties, inviting their leaders to talks on the election of the new president.

During a press conference, he stressed that an agreement can be reached only through communication among political entities. In this context, Kurti mentioned AAK chairman Ardian Gjini, as well as PDK chairman Bedri Hamza.

Kurti said that Gjini and Hamza should join the meetings to discuss the issue, because, in his view, responsibility for electing the president does not rest solely with the majority.

He argued that if the position of speaker of parliament belongs to the winning entity and the government is formed by the majority made up of them, then the PDK and the Alliance also bear responsibility in the process of electing the president. Kurti added that he is ready and interested in pursuing this dialogue.
