Kurti asks Denmark to support advancing Kosovo’s application for EU candidate status

During a farewell meeting with Denmark’s non-resident ambassador, Christian Grønbech-Jensen, Prime Minister Albin Kurti requested Denmark’s support for advancing Kosovo’s application for membership in the European Union.

Kurti said that the meeting addressed relations between Kosovo and Denmark, as well as opportunities to further strengthen them.

“Expressing gratitude to Denmark, I requested support for advancing Kosovo’s application for candidate status for membership in the European Union,” Kurti wrote.

The prime minister also stressed that Kosovo remains committed to achieving its strategic objective of joining NATO.

“Our republic is not only clearly determined and unwavering, but also committed to its strategic goal of becoming part of NATO,” he wrote.

Kurti said he thanked Ambassador Grønbech-Jensen for his service and contribution. According to him, the Danish diplomat conveyed his congratulations to the government and its new mandate.

He also congratulated the ambassador on the agreement reached with the United States of America and Greenland, which aims to strengthen defense and security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic.

“Alongside justice, energy, education and technology, we discussed concrete ways and opportunities to deepen economic and trade cooperation, as well as to increase Danish investment in our country,” Kurti wrote.
