Kurti and Qehaja Condole Families of Kosovo Victims After Accident Near Bllaca

New information has shed light on the circumstances of the fatal accident in which three citizens from Kosovo lost their lives, an event that occurred near the Hani i Elezit–Bllaca border crossing, within the borders of North Macedonia.

According to preliminary data, the vehicle was found overturned near the first roundabout on the section of the highway that is still under construction. Investigators suspect that the driver failed to notice the roundabout in time, while the darkness in this unlit area may have been a contributing factor that caused the vehicle to veer off its trajectory and plunge into a ravine.

A passerby reported the incident around 10:35 p.m., after spotting the overturned vehicle at the entrance to the new highway. In the car were Ejup Tërnava, Cennet Tërnava, and Fatmire Shabani. Initial information indicates that two of them had just landed at Skopje International Airport and were traveling to Kosovo.

Police forces and emergency medical teams arrived at the scene immediately. At 11:07 p.m., the doctor on duty confirmed the deaths of all three individuals. The Road Traffic Safety Unit, officers from the Çair Police Station, and inspectors from the investigation sector have been involved in the investigative process.

Florian Qehaja, Kosovo’s ambassador to North Macedonia, expressed his condolences to the victims’ families. He announced that the diplomatic mission has maintained ongoing contact with local authorities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Kosovo Police, and relatives to offer the necessary assistance. Qehaja added that, upon the completion of procedures by the competent bodies, the bodies will be transported to Kosovo.

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti also sent his condolences to the families of Ejup Tërnava, Cennet Tërnava, and Fatmire Shabani, emphasizing that he shares their pain and that of their loved ones over this profound loss.
