He announced that the homes of 192 families in need will be renovated by the end of 2026.

During a visit on Tuesday in Pristina to a family benefiting from the “Future of Green Energy” project, Kurti said the number of supported families will reach 280 by the completion of the programme in 2028. The project is implemented by the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund and UNDP, with funding from Denmark.

Kurti said that the home visited is one of 51 residences belonging to vulnerable families that have already been renovated. According to him, a total of 192 families will benefit by the end of the year, while by 2028 the number will rise to 280 across Kosovo.

He added that the five members of the Dragidella family will have more dignified living conditions following work to thermally insulate the façade and roof. The family had consumed more than 85 megawatt-hours of energy during the year, while consumption is expected to fall by 74 per cent following the intervention. According to him, this will provide more warmth in winter and coolness in summer.

Acting Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli said that investments in energy efficiency will lead to significant reductions in energy consumption and bills.

Rizvanolli said that energy saving and the energy transition have been widely discussed over the past five years, while these policies are being put into practice through interventions in homes. She stressed that insulating homes reduces consumption, emissions and pollution, but above all creates more dignified conditions for families in Kosovo.

According to the minister, more than 3,500 families have previously been assisted with home insulation, while the current programme is dedicated to the most vulnerable families. She clarified that all 280 families set to benefit by the end of the programme are part of the social scheme.

The family members welcomed the renovation of their home and thanked the government, as well as the supporters of the energy-efficiency programme.
