Kreshnik Kaçiu appointed head of the Administrative Court

At its 372nd meeting, held on Thursday, the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) appointed Kreshnik Kaçiu as the new head of the Administrative Court.

According to reports by “Betimi për Drejtësi,” of the 10 members who took part in the vote, 9 supported his candidacy, while 1 voted against it.

The newly elected chairperson will serve a five-year term.

The agenda of the KJC meeting also included reports from court heads covering the April-June 2026 quarter.

It is worth noting that “Betimi për Drejtësi” had previously reported on the interviews of the two candidates seeking the position of head of the Administrative Court, namely Kreshnik Kaçiu and Liridona Ajeti-Kajtazi.

The commission responsible for evaluating them was chaired by Afërdita Bytyqi, with Bashkim Hyseni and Fahret Vellija as members, while Ivana Milenkoviq served as a reserve member.

The selection procedure is based on the Law on the Administrative Court and Regulation 12/2022, which sets out the procedure for the election, appointment, suspension and dismissal of court presidents and supervising judges.

It should be recalled that the Administrative Court, headquartered in Pristina, officially began operating on May 5, 2026.

Earlier, “Betimi për Drejtësi” had detailed the contents of the Law on the Administrative Court, which provides for the organization of the court into four departments: Fiscal, Labor Disputes, Social Schemes and Pensions, as well as the General Department.

The call for applications for the position of president of this court was issued by the KJC during a meeting held on April 30, 2026.
