Kosovo Judicial Council reviews courts’ six-month reports and calls for greater efficiency

The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) has analyzed the results of the courts’ work for the second quarter and the first six months of 2026.

During the KJC’s 372nd meeting, court officials reported on activities carried out from April to June. Data on the work of the Special Departments of the Court of Appeals and the Basic Court in Pristina were also presented.

The reports include information on the number of cases received and completed, the courts’ level of efficiency, the registration of cases in the Case Information Management System (SMIL), as well as the level of transparency and communication with the public, the KJC announced.

“The reports contain various data related to the performance of the courts in completing judicial cases,” the KJC said in its announcement.

Reports were presented by representatives of the Supreme Court, the Special Chamber of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Commercial Court and the basic courts in Pristina, Mitrovica, Peja, Prizren, Ferizaj, Gjilan and Gjakova. The acting president of the Administrative Court also reported.

After the presentations were completed, the KJC members approved all the work reports for the relevant period.

KJC Chair Rrustem Thaqi expressed his gratitude to the presidents of the courts and called on them to make greater efforts to improve efficiency.

“Increased commitment is necessary in order to improve the efficiency of the courts’ work,” Thaqi declared.

The meeting also included the approval of the recommendations of the Assembly of Court Presidents and Supervising Judges, as well as amendments and additions to KJC decision no. 23/2026, dated January 16, 2026.
