Kosovo Customs has announced that it has been engaged from the initial stages of the investigation into suspicions of organized crime in the oil derivatives sector, based on a decision by the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the statement, the first suspected shipment was stopped in November 2024, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police and the Special Prosecution, marking the start of a coordinated inter-institutional investigation.

Customs also stressed that throughout this entire period it has been part of the joint investigative team, in accordance with the legislation in force.
The institution also recalled that since May 2021, laboratory quality control of oil derivatives has been returned to the Customs laboratory, following a decision by the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade.
According to Customs, this mechanism has enabled savings of approximately 1.5 million euros in laboratory analysis costs, while ensuring impartial oversight in line with European Union standards.
