Konjufca Praises the Role of the Albanian Community in Montenegro’s Development

Glauk Konjufca, Kosovo’s acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, said that Albanians in Montenegro continue to play an important role in the country’s Euro-Atlantic orientation and democratic development.

He made the comments after meeting Nik Gjeloshaj, Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, as well as Genci Nimanbegu, Mayor of the Municipality of Ulcinj.

“In the past, as today, the Albanian community has represented an important force for Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic course and democratic development,” Konjufca said.

According to him, the talks focused on the position and level of representation of Albanians in Montenegro, their engagement in political and institutional life, as well as developments affecting the Albanian community.

Kosovo’s Ambassador to Montenegro, Ariana Zherka Hoxha, and Montenegro’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Bernard Çobaj, also attended the meeting.

Konjufca stressed that relations between Kosovo and Montenegro have been built on cooperation and mutual respect.

“In the European integration processes, Montenegro remains an important partner for Kosovo,” he stated.

Gjeloshaj and Nimanbegu are participants in the 9th Conference of Ambassadors. They also contributed to the panel addressing Montenegro’s integration into the European Union and the role of the Albanian community during this process.
