Konjufca in Warsaw: Kosovo’s European path strengthens Europe’s security

During the Warsaw Security Forum, Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca met with his Estonian counterpart, Margus Tsahkna. Discussions focused on Kosovo’s European prospects and the security situation in the Western Balkans.

Konjufca said he first met Estonia’s foreign minister in 2024. He said his communication with Tsahkna has always been characterized by openness and frankness.

According to Konjufca, Estonia offers an important example of how historical experience can be transformed into an appreciation of freedom and the capacity to defend it. In this context, he particularly praised Estonia’s progress in digital governance and cybersecurity.

A central part of the conversation was Kosovo’s path toward the European Union, which, according to Konjufca, is directly linked to regional security.

The Kosovar minister spoke about threats that he said originate from Serbia, hybrid activities and Russia’s malign influence. He stressed that maintaining peace cannot be taken for granted but requires sustained commitment.

“At the heart of our conversation was the European perspective of the Republic of Kosovo, closely linked to the security of the Western Balkans. The threats emanating from Serbia, hybrid activities and malign Russian influence remind us that peace is not a state that can be taken for granted, but a responsibility that requires sustained commitment. Kosovo’s European integration is part of strengthening this peace and the security of Europe itself,” Konjufca wrote.

Konjufca expressed gratitude to Minister Tsahkna and Estonia, praising their friendship and continued support for Kosovo. He also emphasized their shared commitment to expanding cooperation between the two countries.
