Koçiu: Monthly payment to double for 11,000 children with special needs, insurance also for 14,000 parents and caregivers

Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu closely inspected the new facilities at the Peqin hospital, an investment carried out by the Albanian Government and the Albanian Development Fund, which is being transformed into a Center of Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Excellence for children with special needs aged 0 to 18.

According to Koçiu, children with special needs, who until now were forced to travel long distances to receive treatment, will very soon have a model center near their homes with European standards, where a full staff of professionals will work together for the child’s well-being.

“Alongside this investment, we are doubling the monthly payment for around 11,000 children with special needs and, for the first time, 14,000 caregivers, parents and family members who have devoted their lives to daily care will be granted social and health insurance,” Koçiu explained.

The decision was taken after the Council of Ministers approved the Normative Act for the 2026 budget, which focuses on more support, investment and development for citizens.
