Interior Ministry Intensifies Road Checks Throughout the Weekend

As part of the joint European operation conducted by the European Roads Policing Network—ROADPOL, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is continuing enhanced traffic monitoring to ensure compliance with speed limits.

From August 3 to 9, 2026, the Ministry’s Traffic Affairs Department is carrying out intensified checks to identify and penalize drivers who exceed the speed limit.

Police reiterated that speeding ranks among the most common causes of serious accidents with tragic consequences. Exceeding any established limit increases the likelihood of an accident and reduces the time available to react.

The Ministry is urging drivers to slow down, adjust their speed to road conditions and drive responsibly.

“Our goal is clear: for everyone to reach their destination safely. Slow down. Save lives,” the Ministry said in its statement.
