Intensified traffic checks, police record 189 pedestrian violations

During a special traffic operation focused on pedestrians’ compliance with the rules, 189 violations were recorded across the country, the Ministry of Interior of North Macedonia reported.

The operation was conducted on September 2 by the Traffic Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Interior, from 10:00 to 15:00.

The highest number of violations was recorded in the area covered by the Štip Sector for Internal Affairs, with 57 violations. It was followed by the Bitola and Strumica sectors, with 32 cases each, while 27 violations were recorded in the area covered by the Tetovo Sector for Internal Affairs.

Of the total number of cases, 159 involved crossing the road in an unsafe manner. This included crossing outside marked pedestrian crossings or at points not designated for that purpose.

The Ministry of Interior said that appropriate measures had been taken for each violation, in accordance with legal provisions.

The ministry announced that intensified traffic checks would continue, with the aim of increasing the safety of all road users.

At the same time, pedestrians were urged to follow traffic rules and cross the road only at marked pedestrian crossings or in other areas designated for safe crossing.
