“If reconstruction waits for the last bullet, it will be too late,” Rama at the Ukraine Conference: Kyiv is rebuilding Europe’s courage

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which is attended by heads of state and government, international financial institutions, representatives of the business world, and civil society organizations from various countries around the world.

In his remarks, Rama stressed that reconstruction of Ukraine cannot wait until the last bullet has been fired, because by then it would be far too late.

“I am sure the best contribution you expect from me is a short statement, and that is what I will do.

I think the essence of this conference is very clear: if reconstruction is delayed until the last bullet falls, then it will already be too late. That is exactly why we are here today.

At the same time as defending itself, Ukraine is being rebuilt. That is the great message of this conference. Albania is here with a very simple conviction: Ukraine must secure peace with the same strength with which it is defending its freedom.

We also consider Ukraine’s reconstruction and the European integration of the Western Balkans to be two processes that reinforce one another. Both are linked to Europe’s fulfillment, the strengthening of its resilience, and the reduction of strategic vulnerabilities.

Of course, reconstruction is not an act of charity, but a strategy. It is not simply about repairing what has been destroyed, but about building a democratic, European, modern, and resilient Ukraine, proving that all of Europe is capable of making this happen.

And at the end of this short statement, which I am sure you will appreciate, Ukraine is rebuilding Europe’s courage. Europe must help rebuild Ukraine’s future,” Rama declared.
