IDF Eliminates Senior Hamas Leader Suspected of Guarding Israeli Hostages in Gaza: “Another Piece of Trash Was Sent to Hell”

A senior Hamas leader suspected of holding Israeli hostages in Gaza has been killed by Israeli forces, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet security agency announced.

A joint statement released Tuesday said Adam Ibrahim Shaaban Nasman, who headed operations for Hamas’s Gaza Brigade, was eliminated over the weekend.

According to Israeli authorities, Nasman was a commander in the Nukhba Battalion and had led an operation by Hamas militants inside Israeli territory during the October 7 attack.

Israel says he had held several of the people abducted in that attack, including Romy Gonen, Emily Damari, Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrest and Omri Miran.

After Nasman’s death was confirmed, former hostage Zvi Berman responded on social media, welcoming the operation and thanking the Israeli forces that carried it out.

“Another piece of trash has been sent to Hamas’s giant garbage dump in hell,” he said.

The IDF and Shin Bet said Nasman had held several key positions within Hamas’s structures. These included serving as an intelligence officer in the Gaza City Brigade and as commander of the Al-Shati Battalion.

More recently, according to Israeli authorities, he had been involved in training Hamas militants and expanding the group’s military capabilities, including the production and distribution of weapons.

The statement emphasized that “the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet will continue to act against threats and safeguard the security of Israeli citizens.” It added that Israeli troops would maintain their presence in Gaza.
