Hoxha: Weapons, ammunition and military equipment seized at 45 locations in the north

Kosovo Police Director General Gazmend Hoxha announced that operations were carried out in the north of the country from August 6 to 17 to uncover and seize illegal weapons. The action was conducted in coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency and the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes.

According to Hoxha, the operations were undertaken in the area of the municipality of Zubin Potok following information obtained through various operational channels and cooperation with citizens, which raised suspicions that illegal weapons were being possessed. After verifying the information, the authorities carried out searches at 45 locations.

During the searches, 20 machine guns, 11 AK-47 rifles, 22 long guns of various types, 27 hunting rifles, nine pistols and one air rifle were found and confiscated.

The police also seized 4,831 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. Weapon parts, numerous gun components, stocks, magazines, weapon optics, ammunition boxes and around 10 weights or magazines were also found at the locations.

Other equipment seized included military knives, gas masks, 10 pairs of binoculars, radio communication equipment, radio holders, military axes, wooden ammunition crates and other military equipment. The authorities also found a large number of uniforms, military bags, military shirts belonging to the Serbian army and Serbian police, as well as other equipment related to military affairs.

During the operation, documents from the territorial defense of the former Yugoslavia, war veteran cards, personal documents with serial numbers, forest guard logs and other handwritten materials intended for combat purposes were also seized. The materials found also included permits for handguns, hunting permits and other expired permits.

Hoxha announced that, as part of the operations, cash worth 9,600 euros and 5,000 francs was also found.
