How Germans Are Using Artificial Intelligence to Organize Their Holidays

Planning a holiday takes time, which is often in short supply because of the stressful pace of everyday life. For this reason, an increasing number of people in Germany are using artificial intelligence (AI) to organize their trips and get various ideas.

According to a statement from the digital industry association Bitkom, almost one in four Germans has turned to AI to choose a travel destination or decide where to spend their holiday.

The results were collected through a representative survey involving around 1,000 people over the age of 16.

Artificial intelligence is also being used for practical aspects of travel. According to the data, 19% of participants had used it to find accommodation, as well as plane or train tickets.

Another use is preparing travel lists. Around 6% of those surveyed said they had used AI to compile a list of items they needed to take with them.

Meanwhile, 5% of citizens had relied on artificial intelligence for advice about destinations, vaccines and the cultural characteristics of the countries they intended to visit.

The use of these programs continues after arriving at the holiday destination. Around 17% of respondents said they had used them during their trip to learn more about excursions and various activities.

Restaurant recommendations are another service sought through AI. Survey data show that 21% of citizens had requested such suggestions from artificial intelligence programs.

Photographs taken during holidays are also among the uses of this technology. Around 25% of participants said they had used AI programs to improve their travel photos.

The survey results show that artificial intelligence is gradually becoming a tool present at various stages of travel, from choosing a destination and making reservations to planning activities, finding restaurants and editing photographs. (Dw)
